Quincy beats Indiana State 26-20 in OT

Aug 28, 2009 - 3:18 AM TERRE HAUTE, Ind.(AP) -- Sam Donatucci threw for 111 yards and accounted for all three touchdowns, including the plunge in overtime that gave Quincy a stunning 26-20 upset of Indiana State on Thursday night.

Alex Beard kicked a pair of field goals for the Hawks, an NAIA school located in Quincy, Ill. They trailed 17-0 after the first quarter but crept back into the game, sending it to overtime when Donatucci scored from a yard out with 43 seconds left.

Darrius Gates carried 11 times for 102 yards to lead the Sycamores, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision. He also completed a 75-yard touchdown pass on a trick play in the first quarter that pushed the lead to 17-0.

Chris Stutziem was 9 of 18 for 60 yards and a touchdown for Indiana State.
