Marist S Adler to play in Tropic Bowl
Jan 13, 2016 - 1:19 AM (STATS) - Safety Zach Adler will play in the inaugural Tropic Bowl on Sunday in Miami, hoping to show scouts he has what it takes to become the third Marist player to reach the NFL.Adler concluded a stellar four-year career with 17 interceptions, the second-most in school history, and had 212 tackles. He tied for the FCS lead with 0.6 interceptions per game in 2014, picking off a program record-tying seven passes in 11 contests, while earning first-team all-Pioneer Football League honors and being named a third-team All-American by The Associated Press.
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Adler was a second-team all-PFL selection in 2013 and 2015, when he was a captain for the Red Foxes and finished second with 70 tackles, topped the team with 10 pass breakups and tied for the lead with 10 passes defensed.
Former teammates Terrence Fede and Jason Myers are in the NFL. Fede became the first Marist player to hear his name called at the draft when the defensive end was picked in the seventh round by the Miami Dolphins in 2014, and Myers joined him in 2015 when he won the kicking job for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
No one has shouted yet.
