Mercer to play at Vanderbilt in 2020

Feb 26, 2016 - 5:31 PM (STATS) - Mercer University has played only three seasons since restarting its football program, but the Bears haven't been shy about adding FBS opponents to future schedules.

Friday's announcement of a game at Vanderbilt on Sept. 5, 2020 is the fifth scheduled by the Bears.

"We are excited about the addition of a SEC program in Vanderbilt to our 2020 schedule," coach Bobby Lamb said. "This is a great opportunity to play in a great city like Nashville, an area we recruit heavily, and face a program that has experienced both academic and athletic success."

Mercer has lost four all-time meetings against Vanderbilt, the most recent in 1932.

Among other FBS visits, the Bears will travel to Georgia Tech on Sept. 10, take on Alabama and Auburn in 2017, and return to Alabama for another matchup with the Crimson Tide in 2021.

Mercer, located in Macon, Georgia, was 5-6 last season, including a Southern Conference win over No. 3 Chattanooga.
