Jacksonville to host six in Shields' first season
Apr 11, 2016 - 3:22 PM (STATS) - Jacksonville University announced an 11-game schedule, including six at home, for coach Ian Shields' first season Monday.Shields was hired in December after guiding Lenoir-Rhyne's program for two seasons. His 2014 squad went 11-1 and set a Division II rushing record by averaging 416 yards.
The Shields era at Jacksonville kicks off Sept. 10 at Liberty, which annually ranks among the FCS leaders in average attendance.
Jacksonville will host Division II Edward Waters (Sept. 17) and 2015 Northeast Conference champion Duquesne (Oct. 1) in non-league action. Within their Pioneer Football League schedule, the Dolphins will host Campbell (Oct. 8), defending co-champ Dayton (Oct. 15), Drake (Nov. 5) and Marist (Nov. 19).
The Dolphins' other road games are against PFL members Stetson (Sept. 24), Morehead State (Oct. 22), Davidson (Oct. 29) and Valparaiso (Nov. 12).
