Crimson is the color of Harvard spring game
Apr 24, 2016 - 1:56 AM (STATS) - Quarterback. Running back. Offensive line. Linebacker.Harvard is filling more positions than normal this year, but its program reloads like no other in the Ivy League.
Coach Tim Murphy's squad hopes it got some answers during spring practices, which wrapped up Saturday with the Crimson team beating the White squad 13-7 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Quarterback Tom Stewart completed 9 of 16 passes for 136 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown to tight end Antony Firkser, to lead the Crimson.
Harvard has gone a combined 28-2 and won at least a share of the last three Ivy League titles. But this year's team returns only nine starters (five on offense and four on defense) for Murphy's 23rd season.
Joe Viviano is expected to take over as the starting quarterback and has two strong passing options in wide receiver Justice Shelton-Mosley, the 2015 Ivy rookie of the year and the team's only All-Ivy selection who wasn't a senior, and Firkser. The team's returning tackle leader is defensive end Scott Evans, who had 27 stops.
Harvard will kick off its 2016 season by hosting Rhode Island on Sept. 16.
