SE Louisiana's Miller happy to be a Cardinal
Apr 30, 2016 - 11:38 PM (STATS) - Cornerback Harlan Miller played opposite Robert Alford in the Southeastern Louisiana secondary as a freshman and then watched him get drafted in 2013.Miller grew up pretty quickly after Alford's departure and now he has followed Alford into the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals selected Miller in the sixth round at No. 205 overall Saturday.
"I had a good private workout with Arizona," Miller told AZCardinals.com. "I'm excited to fulfill my dream of playing in the NFL. The Cardinals already have a great defense, so I'm ready to play any role asked of me."
Part of an excellent group of defensive backs coming from the FCS level, the 6-foot, 182-pound Miller is a press corner who has the ability to dislodge a wide receiver's route at the line of scrimmage, turn and stick with him in coverage. He totaled 11 interceptions and 22 pass breakups over his final three seasons, when he was named to the Southland Conference first team each year. Southeastern won conference titles in 2013 and '14.
Miller missed three games as a junior because of a dislocated shoulder, but was healthy in his senior season.
Alford was the Atlanta Falcons' second-round pick in 2013.
