Sam Houston State's Overstreet indicted
May 5, 2016 - 5:08 PM (STATS) - Running back Jalen Overstreet's future with Sam Houston State's program could be in doubt following a third run-in with the law in just over six months.Overstreet, from Tatum, Texas, has been indicted by a Walker County grand jury on a Texas state jail felony charge of credit or debit card abuse, The Huntsville Item reported Thursday. He allegedly used a woman's debit card number to purchase food four times in January.
The offense comes with a conviction of up to two years in a state jail facility.
Previously, Overstreet was suspended by coach K.C. Keeler for one game in November after being arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. He also was charged in March with stealing an iPad from an apartment complex in October.
Overstreet was Sam Houston State's second-leading rusher with 821 yards and he added seven touchdowns as a redshirt junior last season, his second with the Southland Conference power. The Bearkats went 11-4 and reached the FCS semifinals for the fourth time in five seasons.
He began his college career at the University of Texas but was dismissed in July 2014 for a violation of team rules.
