Abilene Christian inaugurates new stadium with 24-3 win

Sep 17, 2017 - 3:14 AM ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Dallas Sealey passed for 195 yards and a score as Abilene Christian defeated Houston Baptist 24-3 Saturday night in a Southland Conference opener. The game was also the inaugural contest in Abilene Christian's new stadium, marking the first game played on campus since Nov. 27, 1958. De'Andre Brown capped a 17-play drive with a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give the Wildcats (1-2, 1-0) a 7-0 lead. Sealey found Carl Whitley with a 33-yard scoring pass seconds before halftime. Nik Grau kicked a 23-yard field goal and freshman backup Luke Anthony passed 17 yards to Josh Fink as Abilene Christian added 10 more points in the fourth quarter. Alec Chadwick kicked a 54-yard field goal for Houston Baptist's (1-2, 0-1) only score. The Huskies were held to 60 yards passing and 69 on the ground. Garrett Dolan broke his school record with 19 tackles in the game. ___
