Agosta, Vaillancourt, Vetter finalists for Kazmaier Award

Mar 10, 2009 - 11:55 PM COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Forwards Meghan Agosta of Mercyhurst and Sarah Vaillancourt of Harvard, along with Wisconsin goaltender Jessie Vetter, were named the three finalists for the 2009 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award on Tuesday.

The winner will be announced on March 21.

Mercyhurst's captain, Agosta currently leads the nation with an average of 2.59 points per game. The junior, who also was a top-three finalist in 2007 and 2008, also is tops in goals (1.31) and assists (1.28) per contest.

The reigning Kazmaier Award winner, Vaillancourt helped Harvard to the ECAC and Ivy League regular-season titles by averaging 1.93 points. A senior, she is first back-to-back recipient of the award since its inception in 1998 and the seventh winner from Harvard.

Vetter set an NCAA record this season with 12 shutouts and also eclipsed the all-time league marks in blankings (37) and victories (88). The senior has posted a 30-2-5 record and helped the Badgers to the WCHA playoff championship.
