Langman commits to second Mystics season
Jul 9, 2014 - 7:42 PM Silver Ferns centre Laura Langman hopes to make a bigger impact at the Northern Mystics after signing a new deal with the side.A centurion at both Test and ANZ Championship level, Langman believes there is potential at the Mystics to improve on their seventh placing in 2014.
The 28-year-old admits she was slow to adjust to the Mystics' style of play after shifting there this year following six seasons at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
There was speculation she would return to the Magic but said in a statement she wants to build on combinations established at the Auckland-based side, particularly with Silver Ferns shooter Cathrine Latu.
She admits it took time for the Mystics to hit their straps this year.
"But when you put a new group together, it does takes time".
Coach Debbie Fuller senses Langman is determined that she and the Mystics play to a higher standard next year.
"Laura went through a big adjustment when she joined the side this year but she worked through it," Fuller said.
"After a tough start she finished the season one of the top-ranked centres, showing she is an athlete who never stops trying."
The Mystics last week secured the services of another experienced midcourter, Central Pulse centre Millie Lees.
They have retained international shooters Latu and Maria Tutaia, along with defender Temalisi Fakahokotau.
