Injury hits netball's Magic early
Feb 19, 2016 - 3:12 AM Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic midcourt defender Aisha Bower will miss the opening rounds of the trans-Tasman netball league after injuring her knee in training.Bower, 21, landed awkwardly and has torn the articular cartilage of her right knee.
Following an MRI scan, Bower is waiting to see a surgeon next week to find out what her options are, and is expected to be out for a few months.
The Magic's ANZ Championship campaign begins against the Pulse in Wellington on April 4.
Bower said while the injury was a blow, she was determined to work hard on a quick recovery.
"I can't control what's happened, but can control how I cope with it and approach my rehabilitation, so I'm seeing this as a new challenge."
Magic coach Julie Fitzgerald said the club would start looking for a temporary replacement, but was confident Bower would bounce back fitter and stronger than ever.
