Broncos pass catchers Sanders, Thomas hurt
Nov 16, 2014 - 8:16 PM St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Julius Thomas both left Sunday's game against St. Louis with injuries. The Broncos said Sanders suffered a concussion on a hit by Rams safety Rodney McLeod in the third quarter and Thomas went down with an ankle injury.
Sanders, who had a 42-yard touchdown catch in the first half, was stretching for Peyton Manning's overthrown pass near the right sideline when he was hit hard by McLeod.
He remained on the ground for several minutes before being helped off the field. McLeod's hit drew penalties for unnecessary roughness, which was accepted, and illegal contact, which was declined. Replays showed he made shoulder-to-shoulder contact with Sanders.
Thomas, who leads the league with 12 receiving touchdowns, left the game in the first quarter and did not return.
