Jaguars sign LT Thomas
Mar 9, 2009 - 6:32 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday signed three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Tra Thomas.Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Tra has been a part of a lot of winning in Philadelphia, he's been durable, he's a three-time Pro Bowl player, and he is a solid, experienced veteran and a good presence in the locker room," Jaguars general manager Gene Smith said.
A former star at Florida State, Thomas spent the past 11 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
"This is a team that showed some interest in me," Thomas said. "Also coming back home, I'm very excited about coming back and playing in my home area, in Florida.
"I want to come in and just do whatever the team needs me to do. I just want to come in and prepare, and get myself prepared to start, and just do the best job that I can."
The 11th overall pick of the 1998 draft, Thomas has played the second-most games (166) by an Eagles lineman in franchise history and fourth overall.
