Scott Niedermayer, Perry help Ducks snap losing skid
Sep 28, 2006 - 5:41 AM ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Captain Scott Niedermayer had a goal and an assist and Todd Marchant scored the game-winning tally to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 preseason victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.Niedermayer gave Anaheim, which entered losers of three straight, a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 7:15 into the game. The defenseman helped set up Corey Perry 5 1/2 minutes into the second period to double the advantage for the Ducks, who went 1-for-14 on the power play.
Marchant scored the eventual winner with just under five minutes left in the third period, giving the Ducks a 3-1 bulge.
Dave Scatchard and Keith Yandle scored for the Coyotes, who went 1-for-6 on the man advantage. Phoenix is just 1-for-18 on the power play over its last two contests.
Entering his 17th NHL season, Curtis Joseph made 29 saves for the Coyotes. Anaheim goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov also stopped 29 shots.
Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne took a stick to the mouth in the first period and did not return.
Jeremy Roenick was a healthy scratch for the Coyotes.
