Lightning re-sign D Egener, ink D Jancevski

Jul 6, 2007 - 9:48 PM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning added some depth to their blue line Friday, re-signing Mike Egener and inking fellow defenseman Dan Jancevski to one-year contracts.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but both players signed two-way deals.

A second-round pick in 2003, Egener spent last season with Springfield of the American Hockey League, recording three assists and a team-leading 152 penalty minutes in 75 games. The 22-year-old German has played professionally for three campaigns after four seasons with Calgary of the Western Hockey League.

Jancevski, 26, made his NHL debut with Dallas in 2005-06, appearing in two games. The Stars' second-round pick in 1999, he notched seven goals and 24 assists in 80 regular-season contests with Hamilton of the AHL last season before adding three tallies and 14 points in 22 games en route to the Calder Cup championship.

"Dan Jancevski is a gritty, strong, veteran physical defenseman and a real leader at the AHL level," Tampa Bay general manager Jay Feaster said. "He has a very good shot from the point and he makes a strong first pass out of the zone. We like the physical presence he brings to the game and we especially value his leadership abilities."
