Capitals renew deal with ECHL's Stingrays
Aug 8, 2007 - 11:28 PM ARLINGTON, Virginia (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals on Wednesday renewed their affiliation agreement with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.The 2007-08 season will be the fourth campaign in which the Stingrays have served as an affiliate of the Capitals.
"We are excited to have extended our affiliation with South Carolina as the Stingrays prepare to celebrate their 15th season," Washington general manager George McPhee said. "Our prospects have had a terrific experience with the Stingrays, and we look forward to continue working together."
Last season, six players under contract with the Capitals played for South Carolina, including 2005 first-round pick Sasha Pokulok.
"Our affiliation and relationship with the Capitals has certainly grown over the last three years," South Carolina coach Jared Bednar said. "We hope to continue that success and develop players for the next level."
