Ducks assign C Wirtanen to Portland
Oct 20, 2007 - 10:20 PM DALLAS (Ticker) -- Petteri Wirtanen's stay with the Anaheim Ducks was a brief one.After just one game with the Ducks, Wirtanen on Saturday was assigned to Portland of the American Hockey League.
A sixth-round pick in 2006, Wirtanen made his NHL debut on Wednesday against Nashville, scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory. The 21-year-old Finn began the season with the Pirates, appearing in five contests without recording a point.
Wirtanen spent last season - his first in North America, with Portland, registering seven goals and 11 assists in 67 games.
