Blue Jackets activate, assign RW Dorsett
Nov 6, 2007 - 11:56 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday activated right wing Derek Dorsett from injured reserve and assigned him to Syracuse of the American Hockey League.A seventh-round pick in the 2006 draft, Dorsett had been sidelined with a fractured leg since September 25.
In his first professional season, the 20-year-old Dorsett spent the previous three campaigns with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League, collecting 49 goals and 79 assists in 180 games. In 2006-07, he recorded 19 tallies and 64 points in 61 contests with the Tigers.
Also on Tuesday, Columbus signed right wing Stefan Legein to a three-year contract.
The 18-year-old Legein was a second-round pick this past June. He currently is playing with Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League, where he has registered 16 goals and 10 assists in 17 games.
