Blackhawks assign C Kontiola, RW Versteeg to minors
Nov 27, 2007 - 8:03 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday assigned center Petri Kontiola and right wing Kris Versteeg to Rockford of the American Hockey League.A seventh-round pick in 2004, Kontiola made his NHL debut on November 25 against Vancouver, playing just under 10 minutes in Chicago's 2-0 loss. In his first season in North America, the 23-year-old Finn has appeared in 19 games with Rockford, recording four goals and 16 assists..
Versteeg, who was a fifth-round selection of Boston in the 2004 draft, also made his NHL debut this campaign, notching two penalty minutes in three games with Chicago. The 21-year-old registered two goals and nine assists in 16 contests with Rockford prior to being recalled by the Blackhawks.
