Coyotes sign LW Vandermeer
Feb 8, 2008 - 11:47 PM GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Coyotes on Friday signed left wing Pete Vandermeer.Terms were not disclosed.
The 32-year-old Vandermeer has been playing with San Antonio of the American Hockey League this season. He has recorded three assists in 21 games and leading the team with 210 penalty minutes.
Vandermeer has yet to appear in an NHL game during his career. The 6-foot, 209-pounder ranks fifth on the AHL's all-time list with 2,374 penalty minutes and also has collected 897 penalty minutes in 128 career contests in the ECHL.
A native of Red Deer, Alberta, Vandermeer is the brother of Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jim Vandermeer.
