Pistons' Ronzone named Team USA international scouting director
Jul 12, 2007 - 3:06 PM COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Tony Ronzone was named director of international player personnel for the United States national basketball team on Thursday.The current director of basketball operations for the Detroit Pistons, Ronzone will serve primarily as an international scout and talent evaluator. He will work with Team USA through the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
"Tony is considered one of the premier talent scouts in the business, and his strength certainly is international basketball," Team USA managing director Jerry Colangelo said. "We are pleased to have him involved."
Ronzone has spent the last six years with the Pistons, the last two as the director of basketball operations. In his tenure with the team, the Pistons have brought in Turkish center Mehmet Okur, Argentinian guard Carlos Delfino and Serbian center Zeljko Rebraca.
Ronzone also served as a scout for the Dallas Mavericks from 1998-2000.
