Edwards victorious again in Busch Federated Auto Parts 300

Jun 10, 2007 - 3:24 AM LEBANON, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Carl Edwards arrived late and won in the same fashion.

Edwards took control late in his Ford Fusion to post his third consecutive Busch Series victory at Nashville Superspeedway by winning the Federated Auto Parts 300 on Saturday night.

It was the fourth victory of the season - all on concrete tracks - for Edwards, who now holds a 662-point edge over Kevin Harvick, who did not compete in the race.

Edwards, who won last week's Dover 200 at Dover International Speedway, barely arrived in time from Pennsylvania - where he will race in Sunday's Pocono 500 - in time for Saturday's Busch qualifying.

Clint Bowyer, who led for much of the race, settled for second place in his Chevrolet Monte Carlo in a repeat of last year's one-two finish here.

Jason Leffler was third in a Toyota, while the Chevys of Scott Wimmer and Regan Smith followed.

Edwards, who finished seventh in qualifying, took the lead from Bowyer with 33 laps left and won by 1.656 seconds.

On his final pit stop, with about 60 laps left, Bowyer's crew elected not to go with new tires. Edwards did and slowly tracked down Bowyer.
