Burton wins the Camping World 300

Sep 2, 2007 - 4:45 PM FONTANA, California (Ticker) - Jeff Burton took the checkered flag in the Camping World 300 at California Speedway.

Burton powered his Chevrolet Monte Carlo past Kyle Busch with just six laps to go after a restart and drove away from the field to register his third Busch Series win this season and his first career victory at California.

Chevrolets took each of the top five spots.

Busch was able to hold off Denny Hamlin to finish second. Jimmy Johnson placed fourth and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five.

The Dodge charger of Kasey Kahne was the top non-Chevrolet finisher, taking sixth.

Points series leader Carl Edwards finished a disappointing 26th.

The race suffered a 28-minute, red-flag delay on lap 67 after a wreck involving rookie Brad Keselowski and A.J. Allmendinger.

The two drivers got together and Keselowski went into the wall, his car elevated and scrapped along the top of the retaining wall as sparks flew and caused damage to the barrier, which had to be fixed before the race could resume.

Keselowski was taken to the ambulance on a stretcher. He is currently at a local hospital getting x-rays and he condition is stable.

The race contained six cautions, spanning 28 laps.
