Skinner wins pole for AAA Insurance 200

May 30, 2008 - 3:34 PM DOVER, Delaware (Ticker) -- A familiar face is on the pole for Friday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

Mike Skinner, the all-time leader in series poles, captured the top starting position for the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway, lapping the one-mile oval in 23.165 seconds at 155.41 miles per hour.

It was Skinner's first pole this season and 44th career.

Skinner will be joined on the front row by Bill Davis Racing teammate Johnny Benson, who posted a lap of 23.195 seconds at 155.21 mph in a Toyota.

"It's good to finally get a pole here at Dover - we were close last week," Skinner said. "It's great because I think it's the first time Bill Davis racing ever had two guys starting from the front row."

Toyotas will comprise the second row as well, with Kyle Busch starting next to Scott Speed. Busch will be aiming for his third series win of the season.

Reigning series champion Ron Hornaday, who won this race last year, starts fifth in a Chevrolet.

Current series standings leader Todd Bodine rolls off 21st in a Toyota. He holds an eight-point lead over Rick Crawford, who starts 12th in a Ford.
