Biffle cruises to Best Buy 400 pole

May 30, 2008 - 8:35 PM DOVER, Delaware (Ticker) -- Greg Biffle is in a good spot to claim his second NASCAR Sprint Series win at Dover International Speedway.

In a Ford, Biffle blistered the one-mile concrete oval in 23.19 seconds, clocking 155.219 miles per hour for his second pole of the season and fifth career.

Biffle will be seeking his fifth straight top-eight finish at the "Monster Mile." A year ago, he finished sixth in the June race and second in the fall event. Biffle won the spring race here in 2005.

"Getting the first pit box is the most important thing," said Biffle, who finished second to Kasey Kahne at both the Sprint All-Star Challenge and Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "These guys who built me a great race car really deserve it. They have been working hard, so this is for them."

Biffle's time was nearly two-tenths of a second faster than Kurt Busch, who qualified second in a Dodge at 23.38 seconds and 153.971 mph.

Current series points leader Kyle Busch will roll off third in a Toyota. Kyle Busch, who holds a 94-point lead over Jeff Burton, circled the track in 23.41 seconds.

Burton rolls off 38th in a Chevrolet.

Jimmie Johnson's Chevrolet joins Kyle Busch on the second row. Johnson has three wins at Dover, including a sweep of both races in 2004.

Martin Truex Jr., who won his only Sprint Cup race at this track last June, will start 20th. Kahne, seeking his third straight win, rolls off 15th.

Jason Leffler and Chad McCumbee, driving for Kyle Petty, failed to qualify for the race.
