Reutimann wins pole for Dollar General 300

Jul 11, 2008 - 9:55 PM JOLIET, Illinois (Ticker) -- David Reutimann will lead the field to the green flag for Friday's NASCAR Nationwide Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

In a Toyota, Reutimann lapped the 1.5-mile tri-oval in 30.85 seconds, clocking 176.436 miles per hour for his first pole of the season and third career.

Tony Stewart gives Toyota both spots on the front row after qualifying second with a lap of 30.67 seconds at 176.091 mph. Stewart, who announced Thursday he will leave Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of the season to become part-owner and driver of Stewart-Haas Racing, will compete for JGR in the Nationwide Series this weekend at Chicagoland and August 16 at Michigan International Speedway.

The second row is comprised of David Ragan's Ford and the Chevrolet of Kevin Harvick, who won this race last season.

Series leader Clint Bowyer rolls off ninth in a Chevrolet. He currently leads Brad Keselowski, who starts 13th, by 202 points atop the standings.

Reigning series champion Carl Edwards will roll off 12th in a Ford.
