Edwards secures pole for Carfax 250

Aug 16, 2008 - 4:26 PM BROOKLYN, Michigan (Ticker) -- Carl Edwards claimed the pole for Saturday's Carfax 250 Nationwide Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

Edwards completed the 2-mile course in 38.69 seconds at a speed on 186.104 mph to earn his third pole of the year.

Cale Gale will start second after a lap of 185.481 mph in 38.82 seconds during Saturday morning's qualifying session.

Brian Vickers (39.00) will start third, followed by David Stremme (39.14), David Reutimann (39.22) and rising star Joey Logano (39.23), who will have Tony Stewart (39.25) just behind him.

Nationwide Series points leader Clint Boyer negotiated the tri-oval in 39.51 seconds and will start 14th.

Marcos Ambrose (39.77), who earned his first NASCAR win last week at the Watkins Glen, will go out in the No. 21 hole.

Saturday's 125-lap race is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT.
