Davis, 18, qualifies fourth in Nationwide debut

Oct 25, 2008 - 4:47 PM MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Rookie Marc Davis got off to a good start in his Nationwide Series debut.

The 18-year-old Davis qualified fourth in Saturday morning's qualifying for the Kroger on Track for the Cure 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Davis clocked 23.073 seconds and registered a speed of 117.020 miles per hour in a Toyota.

The teenager, who made his debut in the Craftsman Truck Series last month, will debut on the series in the No. 18 Toyota, which already has won nine Nationwide races this season, including the past three.

Toyotas took three of the top four qualifying spots, with James Buescher leading the way at 117.591 on the three-quarter-mile oval.

Making just his sixth start of the season, Buescher clocked 22.961 to capture his first pole of the year.

David Stremme joined Buescher on the front rown, turning a lap of 117.473 mph in 22.984 in a Chevroleet. Stremme sits 12th in the series points standings.

David Reutimann, who is third in the standings, qualified third at 117.284 to join Davis on the second row.

The Chevrolets of Mike Bliss and Steve Wallace were fifth and sixth, respectively.
