Coach Allister Coetzee leaves Stormers
Jun 24, 2015 - 12:43 PM Allister Coetzee has left as coach of South Africa's Stormers to take up a job with Japan's Kobelco Steelers.Coetzee departed after six years in charge of the Cape Town-based team, during which time he guided them to a Super Rugby final and two semifinals, but failed to claim a first title.
The Stormers won three South African conferences under Coetzee, and topped the overall regular-season standings in 2012.
But the team failed in the knockout stages, most recently losing at home against the Brumbies last weekend to end their 2015 season.
Although he couldn't deliver a Super Rugby title, Coetzee won domestic Currie Cup titles in 2012 and last year.
At a farewell news conference on Wednesday, Coetzee said: "I'd like to think I've left a mark here."
