Denmark coach Morten Olsen out with fever

Jun 8, 2010 - 3:02 PM JOHANNESBURG(AP) -- Denmark coach Morten Olsen has fallen ill with a fever, leaving his assistant temporarily in charge of the team's World Cup preparations.

Team spokesman Lars Berendt says the 60-year-old Olsen has been infected with a virus that has circulated through the squad for two weeks.

Assistant coach Peter Bonde led the team's training session Tuesday at Denmark's base camp in Knysna.

None of the players was reported ill. All 23 took part in practice, including Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner and Palermo defender Simon Kjaer, who have been recovering from injuries.

Denmark opens against the Netherlands in Group E on June 14.
