Australia's Foord wins young player award
Jul 15, 2011 - 3:50 PM Frankfurt, Germany (Sports Network) - Sixteen-year-old Australian midfielder and defender Caitlin Foord was named the first recipient of the Women's World Cup young player of the tournament Friday.Foord played on the right side of defense and in midfield for Australia, which reached the quarterfinals of the tournament for the second straight time. She played three matches and logged 269 minutes.
All players under 20 in the tournament were eligible for the award.
