Women's World Cup matches postponed
Sep 19, 2007 - 9:46 AM CHENGDU, China (Ticker) -- All women's World Cup matches for Wednesday have been postponed due to typhoon Wipha.Canada's crucial Group C game against Australia has been put back to Thursday as well as China's match against New Zealand.
FIFA had originally re-scheduled Wednesday night's other game between Norway and Ghana and the Group D clash between Brazil and Denmark for Thursday.
But, after reviewing the latest weather reports they have now decided to cancel all the remaining group games on Wednesday.
Canada will face Australia at 5:00 am EDT local time on Thursday while China meets New Zealand at 8:00 am.
Canada coach Even Pellerud's side needs a victory against Australia if they are to guarantee a place in the quarterfinals while a draw will be enough if Ghana defeats Norway.
