DR Congo's Mulumbu joins Norwich

Jun 22, 2015 - 7:21 PM DR Congo midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is to join English Premier League newcomers Norwich from top-flight rivals West Bromwich Albion, the Canaries have announced.

The 28-year-old will make his move to Carrow Road on a free transfer official when his Baggies contract expires on July 1.

Mulumbu, who has signed a two-year contract, is Norwich's second signing since their victory in the second tier Championship play-off final, with Scotland midfielder Graham Dorrrans have made his move to the East Anglian club permanent.

Norwich manager Alex Neil, who oversaw the Canaries return to the top flight after taking over in January, was delighted to have signed Mulumbu, who made 151 Premier League appearances for the Baggies.

"The fact that we have been able to pick Youssouf up on a free transfer is a fantastic piece of business," Neil told Norwich's official website.

"His arrival will add to the competition for places. We have a strong squad with a lot of players that have done well in the Premier League and Youssouf will bring that competition to the squad.

"He has vast experience of the Premier League, but he is still at a good age."

Meanwhile, West Brom said they had signed Republic of Ireland winger James McClean from third tier Wigan for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract, with the option to extend the deal by 12 months.

McClean, 26, played top-flight football for Sunderland in the 2012/13 season before joining Wigan but could not prevent the Latics' relegation to League One last term.
