PSG extend Thiago Silva's time in Paris

Dec 22, 2016 - 5:05 PM Paris St Germain captain Thiago Silva has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the Ligue 1 club until 2020.

The defender, who joined PSG from AC Milan in 2012, has been named Ligue 1's best centre-back for the past four years.

Reigning champions PSG have won the domestic title every season since 2012/13 and claimed two Coupe de France and three Coupe de la Ligue crowns since the Brazil international joined the club.

"It's an immense pleasure to extend my contract with Paris St Germain," Silva told the club's official website.

"I am very proud to be the captain of this team, which has won everything in France in the last two seasons and which has also earned respect from across Europe thanks to its performances in the Champions League.

"We still have some very big dreams to fulfil. I'm convinced that we'll manage to do that and will continue to make our fans happy."

Paris St Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: "I'm very happy with Thiago Silva's contract extension.

"He's an extraordinary captain through his reading of the game and his authority on the pitch."
