Monarchs' Lawson sidelined
Sep 1, 2009 - 12:18 AM SACRAMENTO, Calif.(AP) -- Sacramento Monarchs guard Kara Lawson will miss the remainder of the WNBA season with tendinitis in her right quadriceps muscle.Lawson is expected to be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks. She had been listed as day-to-day beginning on Aug. 20, but it was determined she needs more time to rest and rehabilitate. The 28-year-old guard averaged 8.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 24.2 minutes in 25 games for Sacramento this season, her seventh in the league.
She was recently among the first eight players chosen for the U.S. women's national team that will start training at the end of September. Lawson helped the Americans win a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics last summer.
