AP source: Curt Miller to coach Connecticut Sun

Dec 16, 2015 - 6:56 AM Los Angeles Sparks assistant Curt Miller will be the next coach of the Connecticut Sun a person with knowledge of the deal said.

The person spoke to The Associated Press late Tuesday night on condition of anonymity because no official announcement has been made.

Miller will be introduced Thursday at a news conference.

He was an assistant coach for the Sparks this past season after spending 13 years as a college coach, including 11 at Bowling Green. Miller guided the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Miller coached at Indiana for two seasons before taking the assistant job for the Sparks in May. He replaces Anne Donovan who stepped down in October after the Sun finished 15-19. Connecticut was missing several key players this past season, including star Chiney Ogwumike, who underwent surgery on her right knee in January and missed the entire year.

He inherits a talented squad that also includes the WNBA's most improved player Kelsey Bone. The Sun also have the No. 3 pick in the draft.

Connecticut hasn't made the playoffs the past three seasons.

Miller will just be the third coach for the team since it relocated to Connecticut in 2003 from Orlando.
