Thompson, Johnson lead Comets to first road triumph
Jun 22, 2008 - 4:17 AM By PA SportsTickerMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Tina Thompson scored 18 points and Shannon Johnson added 16 as the Houston Comets secured their first road win of the season with a 72-65 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday night.
Michelle Snow collected eight points and nine rebounds for the Comets, who held the Lynx to just six points in the first quarter.
Despite six turnovers, Thompson shot 5-of-13 from the field and nailed all six of her free throws for Houston, which won despite committing 20 miscues.
Candice Wiggins scored 24 points off the bench for Minnesota, which has lost five in a row and now is 6-6 after a 5-0 start to the campaign.
