Stampeders' Hufnagel named top CFL coach

Jan 21, 2015 - 8:46 PM Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - John Hufnagel of the Calgary Stampeders was named Canadian Football League Coach of the Year on Wednesday.

Hufnagel, who is also the team's general manager, led the Stampeders to a franchise-record 15 wins in the regular season and to their seventh Grey Cup championship in November following a 20-16 victory over Hamilton.

It was the team's first CFL title since 2008, the year Hufnagel first won the Annis Stukus Trophy as the league's top coach.

The award is selected by 65 voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada.

Hufnagel, the longest-tenured active coach in the CFL, received 43 first-place votes.
