Rangers double up White Sox
Apr 20, 2014 - 5:13 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Prince Fielder and Kevin Kouzmanoff both hit solo homers to lead the Texas Rangers to a 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox in the middle test of a three-game set.Alex Rios had three hits and an RBI and Josh Wilson drove in a pair for the Rangers, winners in five straight.
Colby Lewis (1-1) allowed one run on six hits and struck out four over 5 1/3 innings. It was his first win in nearly two years after rehabbing from elbow and hip surgery.
"It's pretty sentimental," Lewis said. "It's one of those victories that I'm just excited about."
Joakim Soria worked a perfect ninth to earn his third save of the season.
Dayan Viciedo had two hits and two RBI for the White Sox, losers in four straight.
Jose Quintana (1-1) allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings to absorb the loss.
"He was pretty good. It wasn't his best stuff, but they are going to get hits, just because of the way the ballpark plays," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "But once they start falling in, those are the ones that hurt you."
The Rangers scored in the first inning when Rios ripped a double to right to score Shin-Soo Choo.
The White Sox loaded the bases with no outs in the second, but came away with just one run. Alexei Ramirez grounded into a double-play to score Jose Abreu and Tyler Flowers was called out on strikes to end the inning.
Texas busted it open with a four-run fourth inning. Fielder opened the inning with a homer to right field. Later, with runners on second and third, Wilson singled to left to bring home Michael Choice and Robinson Chirinos. Choo followed with an RBI double for a 5-1 lead.
With two on and two outs in the eighth, Viciedo singled to left to score Conor Gillaspie and Abreu to get the Sox within two runs, but Kouzmanoff led off the eight with a homer to left to account for the final difference.
