Marlins complete sweep of Astros
Jul 27, 2014 - 11:42 PM Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcell Ozuna and Garrett Jones homered to lead the Miami Marlins to a 4-2 victory and a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros on Sunday.Casey McGehee and Jordany Valdespin each drove in a run for the Marlins, who have won four straight and seven of their last eight.
Jacob Turner (4-6) earned the win after giving up just one run on six hits with four strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings.
"We are playing well. The sweep shows that," said Turner. "Now we have to go home and keep that going."
Jose Altuve homered among his three hits for Houston, which dropped its fifth straight game.
Starter Collin McHugh (4-9), who was activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to the game, lasted 6 1/3 innings. He gave up four runs on seven hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in his sixth-straight loss.
The Marlins started the scoring right away in the first. Christian Yelich singled to left and came home on Valdespin's line drive triple down the right- field line. Two batters later, Valdespin scored on McGehee's sacrifice fly to right.
"The pitch in the first inning that I wish I could have back was the one to Valdespin," said McHugh. "He put a good swing on it and snuck the ball down the line."
Jones continued the scoring by crushing a 1-1 fastball to right, making it a 3-0 game.
Altuve immediately responded in the home half by stroking a leadoff blast to left-center field.
The Astros stranded runners at first and third in the fourth. Matt Dominguez singled and Jon Singleton walked before Carlos Corporan flied out, Marc Krauss popped up to short and Enrique Hernandez struck out to end the frame.
Ozuna hit his 16th homer of the year with one out in the sixth, pushing Miami's lead to 4-1.
Singleton tacked on a solo shot to left for Houston, making it a 4-2 game in the ninth, but Steve Cishek closed out the game, recording two strikeouts to earn his save 26th save of the season.

Altuve extended his hitting streak to nine games and notched his league-best 46th multi-hit game and his 18th three-hit game of the season, which is also the most in the majors ... Prior to the game, Houston placed pitcher Josh Zeid on the 15-day DL with an injured left foot, recalled pitcher Paul Clemens from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned pitcher Brad Peacock to Oklahoma City ... The two teams wrapped up their first series in Houston since May 7-9, 2012 ... Miami owns an NL-best 11-4 interleague record.
