Haren faces former mates at Chavez Ravine

May 12, 2015 - 2:24 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Dan Haren will look to continue a solid start to his Miami Marlins career on Tuesday night when he faces his former Los Angeles Dodgers club in the second of three straight meetings between the teams.

Haren was acquired in a seven-play deal that also sent second baseman Dee Gordon to the Marlins this past offseason, though he was initially unhappy about being moved across coasts to an eastern team. However, he and the Marlins should both be happy about the move now as Haren has gone 4-1 with a 2.68 earned run average through six starts.

The 34-year-old righty won his third straight start on Thursday in San Francisco, yielding just two runs over seven innings on eight hits without a walk. Haren also fanned three and drove in two runs while giving up two runs or fewer for the fifth time this season.

Haren went 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA in 32 starts with the Dodgers last season. He is 6-6 against them in 18 games (17 starts) with a 3.49 ERA.

Mike Bolsinger is slated to be recalled from the minors to make a start tonight, his second of the season for the Dodgers.

Bolsinger made a spot start on April 23 in San Francisco and pitched well in a no-decision, giving up one run on five hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. He also fanned five in a game his club lost 3-2.

The 27-year-old righty is still chasing his second major league victory. He went 1-6 with a 5.50 ERA in 10 games (9 starts) with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season. He is 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in four starts at Triple-A this season and faces the Marlins for the first time.

The Dodgers rallied for a 5-3 victory on Monday night as Scott Van Slyke capped his solid game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Van Slyke finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and also threw out a player at the plate, while Justin Turner and Joc Pederson also drove in runs for the Dodgers, who won their fourth straight game.

"As soon as I hit it, I knew it was out," said Van Slyke. "Best night I've had in the big leagues."

Gordon went 0-for-4 to snap a 13-game hitting streak and drop his major league-leading average from .439 to .425.

Christian Yelich hit a two-run homer and Marcell Ozuna added a solo blast for the Marlins, who have lost three of their last four games.

"Any time you have leads late and can't hold them, it's tough," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "When you have late leads you have to lock them down."

Marlins closer Steve Cishek served up Van Slyke's homer and has now blown four of his seven save chances this season. He has allowed 13 runs in 11 1/3 innings for a 10.32 ERA and Redmond is expected to go to a closer-by-committee approach following last night's loss.

The Marlins and Dodgers split six meetings last season, with Los Angeles winning two of three at home.
