Dodgers send Greinke to hill against Marlins

Jun 28, 2015 - 2:14 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - Zack Greinke hasn't won since May 5 and will try to snap a lengthy drought Sunday, as the Los Angeles Dodgers close out a three-game series against the Miami Marlins.

Greinke is 0-2 with a 1.79 earned run average in his past nine appearances and the Dodgers are 4-5 in that time. Greinke has posted back-to-back no-decisions and tossed six shutout innings of three-hit ball in a 1-0 loss against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday at Wrigley Field.

The right-hander, who threw seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 win versus Texas on June 18, has a 5-2 record to go along with an MLB-best 1.70 ERA in 15 starts and is 3-1 in sox road outings.

Greinke faced the Marlins in a 5-3 win on May 11 and did not factor in the outcome, charged with one run in seven innings. In seven career games, six of which have been starts, against the Marlins, Greinke is 3-0 with a 3.51 ERA.

Miami will send Jose Urena to the mound Sunday and the Dominican right-hander is 1-3 with a 4.34 earned run average through eight games (6 starts). Urena did not record a decision in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to St. Louis and gave up three runs in five innings of work.

Urena has never faced the Dodgers and is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA in three starts at Marlins Park this season.

The Marlins ended a five-game slide with Saturday's 3-2 win, as Christian Yelich posted four hits and a run scored, and Tom Koehler tossed seven innings of two-run ball for the win.

With Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton on the disabled list due to a broken hamate bone, Miami took advantage of the opportunities handed to them by the Dodgers.

"This team could have come in here deflated after the injury to (Stanton)," said Marlins manager Dan Jennings. "(Koehler) stuck his nose in there today and gave the ballclub exactly what it needed."

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw fell to 5-6 on the season after allowing three runs (1 earned) in seven innings.

Los Angeles had a three-game winning streak stopped.

Miami lost two of three games at Dodger Stadium in May. Los Angeles is 11-6 in the last 17 games in this series.
