Oakland (75-84) at Seattle (59-101) 4:10 p.m. EDT
SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle Mariners' miserable season hasn't slowed the play of Ichiro Suzuki.
Suzuki and the Mariners go for their second straight win on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics.
Seattle, which has already clinched its first 100-loss season since 1983, claimed the series opener, 10-8, on Friday, its second win in 16 games.
Suzuki scored his 100th run of 2008 on Raul Ibanez's single in the third inning, tying Lou Gehrig's major league record of eight seasons of at least 200 hits and 100 runs.
The Japanese import looks to add to the those totals against Athletics rookie Greg Smith (7-15, 4.07 ERA), who is 1-1 in his last four starts. Smith, 24, hasn't factored in the decision during his previous two outings despite allowing two runs and 10 hits in 11 innings.
Ryan Rowland-Smith (4-3, 3.39 ERA) counters for the Mariners. The 25-year-old lefthander owns a 2.35 ERA in his last seven starts, but has only two wins to show for it as Seattle has posted a 2-5 record over that span.
