NC State women's coach Yow to miss second straight game
Dec 29, 2008 - 3:30 PM RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The North Carolina State women's basketball team will be without Hall of Fame coach Kay Yow for Monday's contest against Jacksonville State.Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and is susceptible to cold weather, a condition that forced her to miss the Wolfpack's previous game, a 78-58 victory at Columbia on December 22.
"My energy level is still not where it needs to be to complete all of what is expected as the head coach of this program," Yow said.
Yow, 66, decided to miss Monday's game after speaking with athletic director Lee Fowler and her oncologist, Dr. Mark Graham.
Yow currently ranks as the fifth-winningest active NCAA Division I women's basketball coach.
