Late touchdown leads Admirals past Thunder

Jun 15, 2007 - 11:17 PM AMSTERDAM (Ticker) -- Drew Olson's 22-yard touchdown pass to Justin McCullum on fourth down with 2:26 remaining in regulation lifted the Amsterdam Admirals to a 21-20 victory over the Berlin Thunder on Friday.

In the process, Olson made amends for a third-quarter interception that was returned 101 yards for a touchdown by Chris Thompson, giving Berlin a 20-7 advantage. The interception return was the longest in league history, surpassing the previous record of 100 yards set by three different players.

Olson, who was allocated to Amsterdam by the Baltimore Ravens, threw a 20-yard TD to Skyler Fulton early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 20-14. It appeared the Admirals (4-6) were on their way to another score on their next possession, but Olson was intercepted in the end zone yet again.

Kicker D.J. Fitzpatrick had a chance to pad the lead for Berlin (2-8) in the fourth but missed a 40-yard field goal attempt, setting the stage for Amsterdam's winning drive, which was highlighted by Noriaki Kinoshita's 47-yard reception.

Corey Bramlet threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Fulton in the second quarter, drawing the Admirals within 10-7.

Cal Murray scored Berlin's only other touchdown on a 13-yard run early in the second.
