CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Devin Setoguchi scored a power-play goal with 4:15 left in the third period to help the San Jose Sharks hand the Chicago Blackhawks their first loss in regulation at home with a 6-5 victory on Sunday.

Defenseman Dan Boyle scored two goals and Milan Michalek, Joe Thornton and Jeremy Roenick also tallied as San Jose recorded its 12th straight win over Chicago.

"They are a great team," Setoguchi said. "It was nice to come in here and beat them for their first regulation loss in this building. We had to win it late in the game so maybe we needed a better start."

Joe Pavelski registered three assists and defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic set up two goals to support Brian Boucher, who turned aside 28 shots in his fifth straight start filling in for the injured Evgeni Nabokov.

Rookie Kris Versteeg netted two goals and defenseman Brian Campbell and Cam Barker added a goal and two assists apiece.

"They have a good power play, but honestly their success tonight is more about what we didn't do," Campbell said. "We let them have good crossing passes so it was tough for (Chicago goaltender Cristobal) Huet to get over in position."

Patrick Kane tallied and set up another and captain Jonathan Toews had two assists for the Blackhawks, who dropped their third straight contest.

"We talked about it before the game, about not giving them too much space and I think we showed them too much respect," Toews said.

Boyle snapped a 2-2 tie 5:51 into the second with the man advantage, converting a wrist shot after getting a backhanded pass from Pavelski from the right faceoff circle.

"When you play 82 games, wins are not always pretty but we will take it," Boyle said. "This is one of the worst games we played all year, but our power play came through big time for us."

The Sharks added to their lead nearly 3 1/2 minutes later when Roenick stole a botched pass from Chicago's Dave Bolland along the left boards and lifted a backhander into the open net past Huet.

"We play well under adversity and tonight we did some uncharacteristic things, like giving the puck away a lot," Roenick said. "After the second period we came into the locker room and said we don't play this way, so let's go settle down and our power play went out and won us a hockey game."

However, the Blackhawks scored three unanswered goals in a seven-minute span to end the second, capped by Kane's tally with the man advantage with two minutes left in the session to take a 5-4 lead.

Chicago outshot San Jose, 33-31, overall and by a 15-6 margin in the second.

"They are a good team but we were right there with them all night," Versteeg said. "They are big strong and fast but I think we are too. That's why it's a good match up when we play them."

San Jose forged a tie one minute into the third after Pavelski slid a cross-ice pass to Boyle, who fired a slap shot from the right faceoff circle past Huet with the man advantage.

"This year, we are working on getting shots to the net and having guys create traffic out in front of the net," Setoguchi said. "We have eight power-play goals in two games so we have to try and keep that going."

After sitting in favor of Nikolai Khabibulin for the team's previous two games, Huet stopped 25 shots.
