Cumbie leads Avengers over VooDoo
Mar 25, 2007 - 5:51 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Sonny Cumbie passed for 223 yards and four touchdowns as the Los Angeles Avengers won their second straight contest with a 48-36 triumph over the New Orleans VooDoo.Kevin Ingram had nine catches for 59 yards and three touchdowns and Lenzie Jackson added 10 for 66 and a touchdown for the Avengers, who scored on all seven trips to the red zone and never trailed in the game.
Los Angeles (2-1) has moved into second place in the Western Division.
The VooDoo closed the gap, 31-29, entering the fourth quarter but a pair of rushing touchdowns by Jackson and Lonnie Ford gave the Avengers a 45-29 lead that they did not relinquish.
New Orleans (2-2) was led by Tyronne Jones, who had 13 receptions for 121 yards and five touchdowns.
Andy Kelly had 305 yards passing with five touchdowns for the VooDoo, who converted 2-of-3 on fourth down and fell to third place in the Southern Division.
