Graziani, Soul run off 44 straight points, crush Voodoo
May 22, 2007 - 6:36 AM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Quarterback Tony Graziani picked an opportune time to return to the Philadelphia Soul.Graziani completed 7-of-15 passes for 81 yards and four touchdowns as the Soul snapped a six-game losing streak, pulverizing the New Orleans Voodoo, 78-34.
It was the first game for Graziani, who had missed the six previous after suffering a shoulder injury in the sixth contest vs. Dallas on April 16.
Against New Orleans, the sixth-year veteran threw an 18-yard touchdown to wide receiver Larry Brakens with 18 seconds left in the first period to give the Soul a 20-13 lead. It started a run of 44 straight unanswered points by Philadelphia, which finished the burst leading 57-13 with 7:57 left in the third quarter.
Graziani had two TDs and the Soul defense was responsible for 23 points including a 50-yard interception return by Eddie Moten with 2:30 left in the first half that made the score 41-13.
Backup Leon Murray went 3-of-3 for 15 yards and two scores for Philadelphia which had only 119 yards of offense compared to 265 for New Orleans.
Voodoo quarterback Andy Kelly was 16-of-25 for 165 yards and two touchdowns but also tossed two interceptions. Backup Steve Bellisari also threw for two scores but was picked off once for New Orleans, which had a 23-12 advantage in first downs, but also committed five turnovers.
