Rogers, Dukes and Floyd Earn Weekly Honors

May 13, 2014 - 8:32 PM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Portland Thunder wide receiver Eric Rogers has been awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while Arizona Rattlers defensive end Cliff Dukes and defensive back Marquis Floyd have been named Riddell Co-Defensive Players of the Week and Cleveland Gladiators defensive back Dominic Jones has been named J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 9 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. In addition to these awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week. New Orleans VooDoo wide receiver L.J. Castile has been awarded the Cutters Catch of the Week, while the AFL Highlight of the Week went to Portland's Rogers.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Rogers (6-4, 210, California Lutheran) collected 152 yards and four touchdowns on a single-game franchise record 13 receptions in Portland's 32-61 loss to the Arizona Rattlers in Week 9. The rookie wide receiver accounted for four of the Thunder's five scores in the game. He has caught a touchdown pass in all three games played this season.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dukes (6-4, 295, Michigan State) tallied three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Arizona's 61-32 victory over the Portland Thunder on Sunday. His three-sack performance ties the Rattlers' single-game franchise record. The former Defensive Lineman of the Year has now registered 31.5 sacks for his career, the fourth-most among active players.

Floyd (6-1, 190, West Georgia) tied Arizona's single-game franchise record for interceptions with three in the Rattlers' Week 9 victory over the Thunder. Floyd is now tied with Mark Ricks for sixth place in AFL history with 45 career interceptions.

J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Jones (5-9, 190, Otterbein) collected five tackles and three pass breakups in addition to returning a missed field goal 52 yards for a touchdown in Cleveland's 45-42 victory over the LA KISS in Week 9. The return cracked ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays over the weekend. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Castile (6-3, 225, Delta State) hauled in a spectacular one-handed catch in the final minutes of the VooDoo's 60-79 loss to the Philadelphia Soul in Week 9. The catch was made more impressive by the fact that Castile used only his fingertips to reel in the eight-yard grab. He will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of the catch.

AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Rogers (6-4, 210, California Lutheran) hurdled the end zone wall to come down with a highlight reel touchdown catch in the Thunder's 32-61 loss to the Rattlers in Week 9. The nine-yard score made ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, marking the second consecutive week a Rogers touchdown grab has been showcased in the segment.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Nick Davila, Cleveland's Thyron Lewis, Iowa's Marco Thomas, Philadelphia's Dan Raudabaugh and Pittsburgh's Tommy Grady.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Cleveland's Marrio Norman, Iowa's Devon Dace, Philadelphia's James Romain and Pittsburgh's Brandon Freeman.

J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included: Jacksonville's Terrance Smith, Philadelphia's Derrick Ross, Pittsburgh's Shaun Kauleinamoku and Portland's Eric Rogers.
