Windsor, Alston and Young Earn Weekly Honors

May 20, 2014 - 6:20 PM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Arizona Rattlers wide receiver Rod Windsor has been awarded Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while New Orleans VooDoo defensive end Mike Alston has been named Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and Orlando Predators wide receiver Gerald Young has been named J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for Week 10 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. In addition to these awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week and AFL Highlight of the Week. Arizona Rattlers defensive end Isaac Remington has been awarded the Cutters Catch of the Week, while the AFL Highlight of the Week went to Orlando's Young.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Windsor (6-2, 205, Western New Mexico) hauled in a season-high 12 receptions for 138 yards and four touchdowns in Arizona's 70-38 victory over the Spokane Shock in Week 10. Windsor, who is four touchdown receptions shy of 150 for his career, has caught multiple scoring strikes in four consecutive games and recorded triple-digit receiving yards in three straight contests.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Alston (6-2, 250, Toledo) tied a VooDoo franchise record with three sacks in New Orleans' 62-44 victory over the San Antonio Talons in Week 10. He also collected five tackles and a forced fumble in the game. Alston is now two sacks shy of B.J. Cohen's single-season franchise sack record of nine.

J. LEWIS SMALL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Young (5-10, 170, Charleston Southern) proved to be a difference maker in all facets of the game in Orlando's 59-50 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 10. He hauled in five passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver, logged 4.5 tackles as a defender and tallied 145 kick return yards on special teams, including the game-winning missed field goal return for a score in the final seconds on the game. He will be awarded a timepiece crafted by J. Lewis Small for his efforts.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Remington (6-6, 295, Oregon) showed off his quick reflexes by scooping up a deflected pass and returning it 27 yards for a score in Arizona's 70-38 win over the Spokane Shock in Week 10. The interception was the first of Remington's career and the first pick-six for the Rattlers this season. He will receive a Cutters hat and shirt in recognition of the catch.

AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Young (5-10, 170, Charleston Southern) returned a missed field goal 49 yards for a touchdown in the final seconds to secure victory for the Predators over the instate rival Jacksonville Sharks in Week 10. The rookie receiver fielded a failed field goal try and returned it nearly the length of the field in a spectacular finish that cracked ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Iowa's Marco Thomas, Jacksonville's R.J. Archer, New Orleans' Kurt Rocco, Orlando's Bernard Morris, Philadelphia's Ryan McDaniel, Pittsburgh's Tommy Grady, San Jose's Russ Michna.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Jeremy Kellem, Cleveland's LaRoche Jackson, Jacksonville's Jerry Turner, Philadelphia's Brandon Perkins, Pittsburgh's Al Phillips and San Jose's Ken Fontenette.

J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Marquis Floyd, Iowa's Jason Simpson, LA's Donovan Morgan, New Orleans' L.J. Castile, Philadelphia's Rayshaun Kizer, San Antonio's Kelvin Rodgers and San Jose's Dominique Curry.
